The Career Move Nobody Announces
Most people who move into tech do it quietly, in the margins of a job they already have. There is no announcement and no gap year – there is a course finished at the kitchen table, a small project that works, and a conversation six months later that goes differently than it would have. The path is unglamorous and it is the one that works.
Pick the Job First, the Course Second
Open five job adverts you would actually apply for and read the requirements as a syllabus. The overlap between them is your curriculum, and it is almost always narrower than the catalogue suggests. Choosing a course before you have done this is how people end up certified in something nobody near them is hiring for.
Evidence Beats Enthusiasm
A hiring manager cannot measure how motivated you are, so they measure what you have shipped. Finish the course, then spend one more weekend turning its final project into something with your own decisions in it. That version – the one you changed – is the one worth putting in front of somebody.
